Welcome

Welcome to The Writer’s Mark site – let’s take a trip together; a trip into the past! Let’s extract some of the most influential writer’s who have changed how we look at the world through their words and their writing style. We all have one; what’s yours?

Contemplation – The Writer’s Mark Launch – Fabrica 2024 – Franz Kafka

Launching the first in this series, is the talented, most definitely underrated – Franz Kafka. When the term ‘kafkaesque’ is mentioned, many seem to recall the story of the beetle or ‘that’s that writer with a strained relationship with his father.’ For me and many others, I know Kafka relates to us all – both through his writing and his identity that forever danced between his private and public sense of ‘self.’

The Writer’s Mark seeks to bring a community of people together to celebrate the life and works of surrealist writers from our past. We are proud to announce that we have just kicked off our series this February with the existential writer Franz Kafka – launching at Fabrica Arts Centre (Brighton, United Kingdom). A three hour event packed with with art installations and live theatre performances based on Kafka’s world. The artistry was formed from proposals from local artists, with some donations also from other exhibitions currently in other counties. In addition to this platform of work we had the wonderful cast who performed devised pieces inspired by Kafka’s life, works and letters:

I am happy to work. Are you happy to work?

We are so proud of the success of this event and seek to develop part of the event ‘Contemplation’ to tour in 2025. As a small company we endeavor to seek funding to continue the development of this piece. In the meantime, check out our posts that document our journey of exploration into the world of ‘Kafka’ and enjoy reading through our audience feedback.

The Writer’s Mark will be launching a new writer soon – who will this be? Keep checking our posts for further information.
